Heron Island is 30 mins by helicopter from mainland Austalia, part of the Great Barrier Reef. Chris and I were fortunate enough to be able to have a private helicopter trip over and the pilot made sure we got a breathtaking view of the Island as we arrived

The Australia Saga Chapter 2: Heron Island and Gold Coast
Video shot in December 2005 during peak turtle nesting season on Heron Island, about 2 hours off of the coast of Queensland, Australia. The turtle is seen here laying eggs, "disguising" the nest to thwart predators, and then heading back to the water. U of Queensland Marine Conservatory students are seen tagging and recording the turtle measurements, and later help her negotiate a path back to the sea past the break wall. She came in at high tide, and by the time she left, it was low tide, so the break-wall was a bit of a challenge to get past, but after about 30 exhausting minutes, she made it back just fine.
