Some reflection concerning professionalism and UBCNM naturopathy fraud: UBCNM naturopathy claims professional responsibility and competence in 'the scientific' and physicianship - per a doctoral professional college "primary care physician" "health science" degree at a regionally accredited American university labeled "nonsectarian" "scientific medicine" - without actually abiding the strictures that create such epistemically special - delineated knowledge. I call this fraud. In a very real sense, UBCNM is merely using science as a letterhead, and filling up the page that overarching label is upon with any mumbo jumbo they wish. The naturopathic set of 'values' creates a conflicting set of obligations: a veneer of professionality pretending to live up to fiduciary duty in terms of accuracy, honesty, reason, excellence, due diligence, and scientific knowledge, while wholly fraudulent and absurd at its core. The public promise that UBCNM naturopathy makes, at heart, is that the profoundly nonscientific is scientific, that the nonprofessional is professional. Specifically, minimally, this is the UBCNM claim that sectarian 'article of faith' type territory per the vitalistic, teleological, and spiritistic are scientific. Posing the profoundly nonscientific as scientific is fraud, I'll say again. Yet, above and beyond simply that, UBCNM's attempt to subsume two exclusive categories -- putting the nonscientific within the scientific -- is plainly absurd: the scientific cannot include the scientifically unsupported. I do not see a social benefit in such epistemic -conflation, -fraud and -absurdity -- by definition -- particularly, as measured by the standards of academic science and modern medicine's professional obligations. Destroying science by allowing anything to be scientific -- the center of naturopathy's knowledge mannerism -- the most important tool mankind has ever developed in terms of knowledge, serves no social or individual good. Modeling on UBCNM, I have learned that it truly is profitable to be dishonest and misleading at a professional level, a form of ethical egoism and self-interest more akin to a used car lot salesperson than an institution that trains physicians. I have also learned that UBCNM naturopathy is something I cannot engage in, as I see it as a social injustice. UB's academic and institutional incompetence is best illustrated in their 1997 - 1998 graduate catalog which labels naturopathy as a form of "health science" (i.e. http://web.archive.org/web/19981201072758/www.bridgeport.edu/Indexhtml/ubindex.html ) "continually reexamined in the light of scientific advances" [p.062] [...] "scientific medicine" [...] centered around a scientifically-ejected concept, vitalism [...] Promising that the vitalistic is scientific from a professional, academic, and institutional position is quite evil, in my view.
